GDI+ Examples: Collision Detection I

     

Introduction

Objects are said to collide when they touch each other. This is something very important in graphical applications and games, etc. It used to be particularly difficult but nowadays, it mostly depends on how you want to implement. In this exercise, we will draw to circles that keep moving on a form. If the meet (collide), they stop.

This example uses shapes of the Microsoft Visual Basic Power Packs.

ApplicationApplication: Introducing the Tree View Control

  1. Start Microsoft Visual Studio or Microsoft Visual C# Express
  2. To create an application, on the main menu, click File -> New Project...
  3. Set the project type to Empty Project
  4. Change the name to CollisionDetection1
  5. Click OK
  6. On the main menu, click Project -> CollisionDetection1 Properties...
  7. In the Output Type combo box, select Windows Application
  8. On the main menu, click Project -> Add Reference...
  9. Click the .NET tab
  10. In the list, click System
  11. Press and hold Ctrl
  12. Click System.Drawing
  13. Click System.Windows.Forms
  14. Click Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.Vs
  15. Click OK
  16. On the main menu, click Project -> Add New Item...
  17. Click Code File
  18. Change the name to CollisionDetection
  19. Click Add
  20. In the empt document, type the following:
